Independent tests show that AMD has the most reliable drivers

Better than NVIDIA

For many years, we have heard stories about AMD graphics drivers. AMD was criticised for its driver support with the Radeon Technologies Group software. With Adrenalin and Crimson drivers, AMD has fixed several bugs and now the company is offering a very good support. A few months ago, AMD commissioned QA Consultants to conduct an independent evaluation of stability of the latest graphics drivers from both AMD and NVIDIA.

According to the test setup, all the tests were conducted with Windows 10 updated to April 2018. With AMD, the guys over at QA Consultants have used both Radeon and Radeon Pro GPUs, while on NVIDIA they used both Quadro and GeForce graphics cards. QA Consultants has tested both systems with 432 tests and AMD systems have passed 401 out of 432 tests. The two systems based on NVIDIA drivers have passed only 356 out of 432 tests. In order words, AMD reached 93% pass rate while NVIDIA only 82 percent.

Both gaming and professional graphics cards have been tested in the same way. The stability test involved a four hour stress test six times a day for twelve days. Each finished test counts as a pass, the final score is reached by dividing the number of test passes by the number of attempts. Based on the results of testing the twelve GPUs, QA Consultants announced that AMD has the most stable graphics driver in the industry.
