Microsoft is updating the humble Notepad

We are not kidding!

It’s not a particularly hardware related piece of news nonetheless we deem it notable, not so say memorable, that Microsoft have assigned resources to revamp their humble notepad. We're rather confident that every single one of our readers has its fair share of experience with this rather dull yet effective piece of software.

Fair enough we're done chit-chatting. Along the next major update of Windows 10 the beloved, yet dated Notepad is going to be beefed-up. For instance it will be capable of dealing with large text files in a more responsive way. Apart from that the status bar is going to incorporate a few new features. One particularly comfortable thing will be the possibility to zoom in and out holding down the ctrl-key while scrolling with your mouse. Apart from that .nix and Mac file types are going to be supported and ctrl-backspace is going to delete entire words.

One last (personal) note: I very much hope Redmond is not going to fuck this simple piece of software up. Hopefully it can still be used to get for pasting weirdly formatted text to then receive a clean and unformatted output.
