NVIDIA has quietly added a 3GB version of the GeForce GTX 1050 to its lineup. Despite this card doesn't belong to the "Ti" series, it features the same number of shader cores as the 1050 Ti. Furthermore it sports higher clock rate than the Ti version. In order to make it a bit slower than the Ti version, NVIDIA has reduced the memory interface to 96-bit.

Compared to the GTX 1050 2GB, NVIDIA raised the base clock of the GTX 1050 3GB by 62MHz and the boost clock by 63MHz. This difference doesn't seem like much until you will figure out that this card has the full 768 shader cores of the GTX 1050 Ti, which comes with lower clocks than the smaller GTX 1050. The highed clock rate will help in compute workloads although it's hard to understand who will buy a GP107 GPU for compute.

In order to make things right, NVIDIA has reduced the memory interface from 128-bit to 96-bit. Since all the three cards come with the same 7GT/s GDDR5 memory, the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 3GB might be significantly slower in some scenario. According to some rumors, NVIDIA might price the card with a rather low price. Pricing and availability for this new card remain a mystery, but we will know more during next weeks.
