MSI joins the party with four X470 models

All based on ATX form factor

A couple of days ago, AMD has unveiled Ryzen 2000 series of CPUs alongside with AMD X470 chipset. There are new boards around with the X470 chipset from every manufacturer, and from MSI as well. On following we will take a look at the Dragon Army's models.

The X470 flagship motherboard from MSI is the X470 Gaming M7 AC. This motherboard comes with three PCIe Gen 3.0 slots and two M.2 slots that sit underneath a massive heatsink. Furthermore a Killer E2500 controller takes care of Gigabit Ethernet duties, while a Realtek ALC1200 codec has been installed for the audio. In addition the motherboard take advantage of the Intel Wireless-AC 8265 card and its 802.11ac Wi-FI and Bluetooth 4.2 support.

The next board is the X470 Gaming Pro Carbon AC which is available with and without AC module. This model is rather similar to the M7 AC listed above, the main difference is about the storage side. While on the Gaming M7 AC there is a huge heatsink, on this motherboard only one M.2 slot has been covered with aluminum cooler. Network wise, MSI has changed the WiFi module too, since on this model we find an Intel Wireless-AC 3168 controller. Both models are compatible with CrossFire and SLI setups.

MSI offers a mid-range motherboard as well which is the X470 Gaming Plus. This motherboard still offers metal-reinforced PCIe slot, two M.2 slots and CrossFire support. Compared to the three previous models, there are less USB connectors on this board. Furthermore it comes with Realtek 8111H Gigabit Ethernet controller and a more common Realtek ALC892 audio codec.

At the moment we have found the X470 Gaming M7 AC listed at $259.99 and the X470 Gaming Plus available for $139.99.
