Gigabyte unveils its X470 Aorus motherboards

AMD has pulled the wraps from its second generation of Ryzen processors. This chips are compatible with current AMD AM4 motherboards as well as with the new chipset AMD X470. Every company has unveiled several motherboards, while Gigabyte go to the market with only three models.


Starting from the top, the X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi is the flagship model. This motherboard comes with PCIe Gen 3.0 slots with steel reinforcements, a couple of M.2 sockets, six SATA ports and several USB ports. Gigabyte equipped this high-end motherboard with a fancy audio solution too. A Realtek ALC1220-VB codec is joined by an ESS Sabre ES9018Q2C DAC for 7.1 analog output. Furthermore there are several on-board buttons as well as a debug display.

The X470 Aorus Gaming 5 WiFi is a step down from the flagship board, but the difference isn't so big. Compared to the board above, the power design is a bit different as well the audio chip. Furthermore there are few cosmetic changes on the heat sinks. It appears to be functionally identical to the X470 Gaming 7 WiFi, the layout is almost identical.

Gigabyte's X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming motherboard is the entry level model. The biggest change between it and the other two models is the WiFi, that is missing on the Ultra Gaming. Furthermore there are some cosmetic changes and less RGB LEDs.

Price wise, the flagship X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi is available for preorder for just $240. The X470 Aorus Gaming 5 WiFi will cost $180 and the X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming will come with a shocking price of $140.
