EKWB unveils Annihilator EX/EP water block

Compatible with LGA 3647 socket

EKWB announced the Annihilator EX/EP water block for the Intel LGA 3647 socket. Since the block is designed for server rigs, it features top and side inlets in order to be compatible with regular and 1U-blade chassis.

We don't see often water-cooling manufacturers step inside the enterprise computer market, but that's exactly what EKWB has done with the Annihilator EX/EP. This massive water block is built to cover the large LGA 3647 socket used by Intel on Purley platform. Since most of this platforms sit inside blade servers, the Annihilator comes with four G1/8" side-entry inlets in addition to two G1/4" top-entry inlets.

EKWB mentioned that the Annihilator is built for a "future generation of Skylake-based Xeon and Skylake-E HEDT CPUs with a larger LGA 3647 socket". At the moment there isn't any LGA 3647-base high-end desktop CPU around. Intel uses the "HEDT" prefix for high-end desktop processors like those based on LGA2066 or LGA2011-3. At this times isn't clear if this is a mistake from EKWB or if we should wait a new HEDT series from Intel.

The Annihilator EX/EP is available at EKWB's shop for $160.
