During the last year we have seen a massive cryptocurrency boom and plenty of people trying to take advantage of it. For example the UK government site has been hacked to mine, nuclear russian scientists tried to use super computers for mining and several torrent websites had Javascript-based cryptocurrency miners loaded.


According to a news posted on several news media sites a few days ago, thieves have managed to steal around 600 computers from data centres in Iceland. The main goal is use this PCs for mine cryptocurrency. The event took place between December and January and according to a local police commissioner this was a massive grand theft. Iceland is famous to be a haven country for mining due to lower electricity costs.

Investigators have checked all the high electricity usage to their advantage. Since 600 PCs running at full time can mean something in terms of power, they didn't take too long for arrest all the organization.
