The Dell XPS 13 has been updated with the latest Kaby Lake-Refresh processors. The new ultra-thin notebooks are offering now Core i5-8250U or Core i7-8550U processors under the hood. Both chips sport four cores and eight threads, and Intel UHD Graphics 620. The 13-inch display is available in both 1920x1080 and 3840x2160 resolutions with touchscreen options. Both versions of the display feature edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and Dell's Infinity Edge technology.

The memory comes in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB dual-channel LPDDR3 configurations. The 4GB and 8GB versions run at 1'866MHz, while the models equipped with 16GB are clocked at 2'133MHz. Storage wise there are several configurations. The cheapest XPS 13 comes with 128GB M.2 SATA SSD, but more expensive models can feature a 256GB, 512GB or 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD. According to Dell, the cooling has been improved compared to the previous version. On the upcoming XPS 13, the company has doubled the amount of fans and heatpipes. Due to the slim design, there are just three USB Type-C ports and only two of them are compatible with Thunderbolt 3.

The new Dell XPS 13 comes in two different finishes: rose gold with an alpine white interior or silver with a black interior. Dell offers the XPS 13 with Windows 10 (Home or Pro) or Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS. The Windows versions start at $999.99, while the Ubuntu-based developer edition will be available for $949.99.
