Intel announces new processors

Celeron and Pentium Silver CPUs

A few months ago, when Intel added the "Gold" suffix to its Kaby Lake Pentium processors there were rumors that the company would add the "Silver" suffix to Pentium parts as well. Today the company has announced few new processors.


The Pentium Gold processors are already on the market and include the Kaby Lake G4560 and 4620. Those processors sport Hyper-Threading and we expect to see Pentium Gold model based on Coffee Lake with more cores. The upcoming Pentium and Celeron Silver SoCs will feature Gemini Lake architecture which will replace Apollo Lake lineup. The new processors are desiged for 2-in-1 laptops, all-in-one PCs, mini-PCs and desktops.

The upcoming Intel Pentium Silver and Intel Celeron processors are targeted at everyday computing, such as office productivity, web browsers and multimedia. According to Intel, the processors are said to be highly power efficient. All six new processors feature 4MB of cache and can address two channels of 2400MT/s DDR4 or LPDDR4 memory. They are all capable of supporting 4K displays using their IGPs. In addition all SoCs support 2x2 802.11AC network chips and provide up to Gigabit Wi-Fi speeds.

According to Intel, all this upcoming processors should be available during next year.
