Toshiba unveils XG5-P NVMe SSDs

3000MB/s of throughput performance

NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than your usual SATA drive. Toshiba today released its XG5-P series of high-performance SSDs, targeted at enterprises and data-center customers, which usually have the highest demands regarding performance and reliability.

The Toshiba XG5-P NVMe SSDs are going to be available with 1TB and 2TB capacity. Talking about performance, sequentially reading these drives should hit up to 3'000MB/s and up to 2'000MB/s sequentially writing. The 4K random access performance is up to 320'000 / 265'000 IOPS. These drives sport full-length heatsinks, cooling the MLC NAND flash chips and the controller.

The XG5-P SSDs will also be available in self-encrypting drive (SED) models supporting TCG Opal Version 2.01. So far Toshiba has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their XG5-P NVMe SSDs but we are sure we will know more during upcoming weeks.
