LiteOn reveals EPX M.2 NVMe SSDs

With up to 1920 GB capacity

NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than the usual SATA drive. New markets always offer new opportunities and that on the other hand means that different vendors will launch new products. With the EPX series, LiteOn introduces enterprise-grade SSDs with M.2 22110 form factor and PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface.

The LiteOn EPX PCI-Express NVMe SSDs are going to be available with 960 GB and 1920 GB capacity. Talking about performance, sequentially reading these drives should hit up to 1'800MB/s and up to 800MB/s sequentially writing. The 4K random access performance of the 960 GB variant is 300'000 / 30'000 IOPS (read/write), while with the 1920 GB variant the performance is up to 330'000 / 30'000 IOPS. These drives come on M.2 22110 form factor and on the PCB there is a bank of capacitors that provide data-loss protection in the case of a power loss.

Both drives are rated for 2 million hours MTBF and 1 DWPD for 3 years. So far LiteOn has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their EPX series but we are sure we will know more during next weeks.
