The Gigabyte X299 AORUS Gaming 7 Pro belongs to the high-end series and it's recommended for Core i9 processors like i9-7980XE and i9-7960X CPUs. This board is quite similar to the X299 AORUS Gaming 7, but features a completely redesigned CPU VRM.
The X299 AORUS Gaming 7 Pro is based on an ATX form factor, yet this time Gigabyte is using all the space available on the PCB. The X299 AORUS Gaming 7 Pro also comes with RGB backlight underneath each heat sink and there are steel reinforcements on the PCIe slots. In general the layout is quite simple and therefore it has also been equipped with five full-sized PCIe 3.0 x16 slots.
Storage wise, there are eight angled SATA-III ports. Apart from that you get three M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. While two M.2 slots are placed in the middle of the motherboard and are compatible with 2280 units, the third one is in the bottom area and it supports 22110 SSDs.
Gigabyte equips the X299 AORUS Gaming 7 Pro with one PS/2 port, one USB 3.1 Type-C port, four USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A ports and four USB 3.1 Gen1 ports. Furthermore there are two Gigabit Ethernet ports and the analogue audio panel with optical out. At a first glance this is certainly a good looking motherboard.
