There are quite a few reports available attesting the Vega 64 excellent efficiency when it comes to mining. According to some reddit users, RX Vega graphics cards can be more efficient than their Polaris counterparts. In other words, Vega handles compute workloads much better than traditional gaming ones.
According to Reddit user S1L3N7_D3A7H, RX Vega 64 can hit up to 43 MH/s with just 130W of power in Ethereum's PoW (Proof of Work) algorithm. Just for reference, a tweaked RX 580 graphics card usually deliver around 30 MH/s with 75W core power which amounts to 115W power draw per card. So far Vega is achieving 43% more hash rate with only 13% more power consumption. This could be a good upgrade for miners.
This means that Vega 64 can beat easily a RX 580 card in single node hash rate density. This means that a system based on only Vega 64 cards can be much more productive than one based on RX 580 graphics card. This good score has been achieved with standard driver and without any AMD tweak or Beta mining driver. At the moment the Beta driver are not rock solid and AMD is working on them in order to improve the stability.
S1L3N7_D3A7H is working on Vega 56 efficiency and at the moment there isn't any additional information but we will surely keep an eye on it.
