A few days ago, AMD has officially announced their Ryzen Threadripper processors. This new series of CPUs will come with more cores than their Ryzen 7 lineup and it's based on the new AMD X399 HEDT platform. The lineup includes three SKUs with up to 16-cores and 32-threads.
AMD's Ryzen Threadripper CPU lineup includes one 16-core CPU, one 14-core chip and one 8-core processor. The pack is led by the AMD Threadripper 1950X with its 16-cores and 32-threads. The base clock frequency of this CPU is set to 3.40GHz, with a turbo of 4.00GHz and XFR set to 4.20GHz. Following the 1950X, we find the 1920X that is a 12-core chip with SMT enabled. The clock frequency of this CPU is set to 3.50GHz, with a turbo frequency of 4.00GHz and XFR set to 4.20GHz. Last but not least, AMD has unveiled the Threadripper 1900X that falls in the 8-core category with SMT enabled. This processor clocks at 3.80GHz, with a turbo of 3.90GHz and the same XFR frequency of the other two models.
All upcoming AMD Threadripper chips will come with a quad channel DDR4 memory interface, 16MB of cache and a TDP set to 180W. Speaking about prices, the Threadripper 1950X should costs $999 dollar, the 1920X is set to $799 dollar and the 1900X should be released at $549 dollar.
The table below will give you a quick overview regarding all the details:
Processor Name | Frequency (GHz) | Cache | C/T | Turbo (GHz) | XFR (GHz) | TDP | USD |
1950X | 3.40 | 16 MB | 16/32 | 4.00 | 4.20 | 180 W | 999 |
1920X | 3.50 | 16 MB | 12/24 | 4.00 | 4.20 | 180 W | 799 |
1900X | 3.80 | 16 MB | 8/16 | 3.90 | 4.20 | 180 W | 549 |
