AMD today released the latest update to their Radeon GPU drivers, the Crimson ReLive Edition 17.7.2. In the shape of a larger update they’ll bring a few new features. Furthermore - as usual - these drivers are supposed to help increase the performance and efficiency of AMD cards and on top of that AMD has also fixed some issues related to input latency.
The latest version of the Radeon Software Crimson ReLive 17.7.2 drivers, fixes a bunch of issues that were present with version 17.7.1. As we said before, AMD has added several new features with this release. First of all the GUI has changed once again and AMD is trying to create a software that’s easier to use and requires less clicks through the drop down menu. Furthermore Radeon WattMan has been improved and Radeon ReLive now supports more bitrates as well as more controls. However the biggest upgrade is "Enhanced Sync", which is a tool designed to reduce game animation stutter and input latency.
Enhanced Sync should help minimize screen tearing and stuttering by decreasing latency at an unlocked frame rates. The tool can be accessed through the Radeon Setting Game Manager under "Wait for Vertical Refresh" in a drop down menu. According to AMD, while playing Overwatch with a RX 580 graphics card the latency and the frame rate variance should be reduced. In addition AMD has addressed the issue that frame rate control wasn’t available in combination with DirectX 12 and multi-GPU setup.
As always, you can download the latest AMD Crimson ReLive drivers over at AMD's support page.
