RX Vega GPU reportedly a bit quicker than GTX 1080

According to a 3DMark Fire Strike result

AMD’s RX Vega GPU has been spotted in the Futuremark database, showcasing performance values, which are a little bit higher than what NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080 is capable of achieving. The graphics score value from 3DMark Fire Strike are therefore within what’s been expected. All the scores have been gathered using an Intel Core i7-5960X processor.

The result shows that the card is running Fire Strike 1.1 with a total score of 17'447 points and a graphics score of 22'330 points. According to our GPU chart, this GPU is able to beat NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080. The 3DMark database also shows GPU clock speeds of 1630MHz. Looking at the memory specs, the “undetected AMD” card features 8GB of graphics VRAM running at 945MHz. Since this card is supposed to feature HBM memory, the clock frequency looks very plausible. In the case of the Radeon R9 Fury the memory was set to 500MHz.

AMD has already confirmed that they are going to release their Vega graphics cards during the second half of 2017. Judging by the number of teasers and news it appears that the launch of the upcoming AMD RX Vega GPU is imminent and we are pretty sure that during the next weeks more details will surface.

The scores have been uploaded by "TheGameTechnician", which might be Jason Evangelho, who’s Technical Marketing Specialist at AMD.
