According to a leak from a reddit user, AMD's upcoming Ryzen 3 CPUs might be released July 27th. At the moment there isn't any precise information, but according to the latest rumors Ryzen 3 1300X will cost $129 US and Ryzen 3 1200 will be available for $109 US. The reddit post, which is where the rumor first surfaced, is unconfirmed, but the prices appear to be yet very interesting.
So far the AMD Ryzen quad core lineup has been split into mid-range (5 series) and entry-level (3 series) models. The mid-range quad-core lineup includes the Ryzen 5 1500X and the 5 1400. These two models are available since a few months. According to a reddit user, AMD might release the entry-level lineup by the end of the month. Compared to the Ryzen 5 series the upcoming Ryzen 3 1300X and the 3 1200 won’t feature SMT and the clock speeds are supposed to be lower.
A quick look at the alleged specs shows that the Ryzen 3 1300X and the 1200 are both quad-core CPUs with a base clock frequency that ranges between 3.1 GHz and 3.5 GHz. Both CPUs pack 2x 512KB L2 Cache and 2x 4MB L3 Cache, but they don't feature SMT. In other words these CPUs are “simple” quad-cores. AMD might most likely attack Intel’s Core i3 lineup with these new chips. Unlike the Intel processors, the AMD Ryzen 3 lineup can be overclocked and come with four real cores. These new CPUs might be released later this month July 27th with pricing that is expected to be between $129 US and $109 US. Right now the overclockable Intel Core i3-7350K is available for $139.99 US.
According to Wccftech, the Ryzen 3 1200 as well as the Ryzen 3 1300X processors should be fast enough for entry-level gaming PCs.
