EKWB confirms compatibility of their current CPU blocks for LGA 2066

No need for an additional kit

EK Water Blocks has confirmed that all of their current-generation CPU blocks will work perfectly with Intel's latest Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X LGA 2066 processors. There won’t be any need for a new mounting kit or aftermarket modifications. This is a definitely good news for everybody who already owns a custom loop in combination with an Intel X99 platform.

The mounting holes of the LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-3 sockets are the same as for the new LGA 2066 so no mounting bracket upgrades are needed. Every EKWB water block that’s compatible with the socket LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-3 will work out-of-the-box with the all the new X299 motherboards featuring the socket LGA 2066. Apart from that all new EK liquid cooling kits support the the socket LGA 2066. In other words if you just bought an EK Fluid Gaming series kit for instance or an EK-XLC Predator kit you’re not to worry about compatibility.

Regarding X299 watercooling enthusiasts are waiting for full-cover blocks, especially considering that the VRMs get really hot on X299-based motherboards. So far we’re actually curious to find out whether full-cover blocks are going to solve the temperature/throttling issues that currently occur, when the VRMs don’t receive appropriate cooling. So far EKWB is mentioning that during the upcoming weeks the first full-cover blocks should become available. We’ll certainly watch out of any new products and let you know as soon as we find something.
