Although first rumors hinted that StarCraft Remastered was to be released in March, Blizzard has finally come up with an official statement on the actual launch date. On August 14 StarCraft Remastered is going to be released and so far it can be pre-ordered for $14.99 US. The Remastered edition comes with a few new features yet the gameplay remains unchanged.
Blizzard has give the game a complete visual overhaul, which makes the title look fresh and apart from that it now also supports UHD/4K resolutions. Apart from that StarCraft Remastered will receive a new matchmaking system and leaderboards, which is similar to the current system you find with StarCraft II. Last but not least the progress of each player will be saved in the cloud.
The classic gameplay that brought the original StarCraft it’s huge fan base remained entirely untouched. The developers have only had a focus on making the game look better. In other words, they have only changed the design and the feature sides of the game, while the gameplay as well as all the missions are still the same.
A few days ago, the system requirements have been unveiled and although the visuals have been improved there is no need of high-end components. According to Battle.net, the recommended specifications include a dual core CPU, 4GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 8800GT or an AMD Radeon HD 4850. In other words any notebook or ultrabook meets the recommended specifications.
StarCraft: Remastered will be available for Windows PCs and Macs for $14.99 US. The game will pack English, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese languages.
