34-inch curved G-Sync Display from LG

144 Hz refresh rate

LG already has a wide portfolio at hand when it comes to displays and even gaming monitors. Meanwhile the Koreans are introducing another model, which goes by the product name 34UC89G-B. It’s a 34-inch model with 21:9 aspect ratio, an IPS panel, 144 Hz refresh rate and wait for it; 2560 x 1080 pixel resolution.

To continue on the list of gaming features there is a so called Dynamic Action Stabilizer for games, which should help reducing shaky cams in games. To us this sounds like a feature we would turn off straight aways, since we actually enjoy experience games the way the were meant to be experienced by the developers. Furthermore there is an OSD crosshair, which would be especially helpful when playing Counter Strike, but then who would play Counter Strike on a 34-inch display? In the case of CS:GO an 34-inch 21:9 display is only causing sensory overload in your brain and you’ll gladly switch back to your 24-inch display.

Continuing with the specifications we find 5 ms grey-to-grey response time, 178°/178° viewing angle and 300 cd/m2 maximum brightness. Regarding connectors we there is a DisplayPort 1.2 and a HDMI 1.4a as well as a 2-port USB 3.0 hub.

According to LG the 34UCG89G-B is going to be available by mid-July. Since this display supports G-SYNC we don’t believe it’s going to feature a particularly attractive price although there is “only” a 2560 x 1080 pixel panel.
