Dell has revealed their new Alienware Area-51 gaming desktops based on the latest high performance AMD and Intel processors. As the name suggests, the Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition is a pre-built system which is going to be equipped with AMDs Ryzen Threadripper CPUs
The new Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition PCs are based on the X399 chipset and can be configured with either 12-core/24-threads or 16-core/32-threads processors with water cooling. The standard memory configuration starts with quad-channel DDR4-2666 up to 64GB DDR4-2933 HyperX memory. Regarding the graphics department you can choose almost everything that you can find in the market today. According to Dell, you can equip your system with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570 or even install two GTX 1080 Ti or three Radeon RX 580 cards.
Storage wise, the Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition gaming PC can be equipped with M.2 PCIe SSDs with up to 1 TB of capacity and 2TB 7200RPM SATA HDD. The networking is handled by two Killer E2500 Gigabit NICs and a WiFi 802.11ac 2x2 module. Furthermore, Dell will also offer Alienware Area-51 based systems, which feature Intel Core Skylake-X CPUs. According to the manufacturer, we might be able to configure our gaming PC with Core i7-7800X, Core i7-7820X or Core i9-7900X. Like for the AMD models, also the Intel ones will come with water cooling on the CPU.
The Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition will become available on June 27th and by then pricing is supposed to be announced as well.
