At Computex 2017 Supermicro has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards for Intel's Basin Falls platform. Meanwhile there are quite a few pictures available online and both of them appear to be based on the same PCB. The only difference between these two models is the IPMI remote management.


The Supero C7X299-PG is an ATX model and it comes with four full-sized PCIe slots and steel reinforcements as well as one PCIe x1 slot. In the case of storage you’ll find six angled SATA ports, two U.2 ports and two M.2 slots. Furthermore there are additional features such as a debug display, support for USB 3.1 and a good mix of connectors at the I/O panel. So far Supermicro has not announced the official pricing of these motherboards or their release date.

The only difference between the Supero C7X299-PG and the C7X299-PGF is the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface). This is a server feature that allows remote control and monitoring of the PC. Since Supermicro is the brand behind Supero, it's not a surprise that there is a feature on this enthusiast grade motherboard, that comes from the server world. In our opinion it’s great to see Supermicro putting server features on their mainstream/enthusiast boards, which could help set them apart from the competition.
