AMD confirms - RX Vega will be showcased at Computex

But just a soft-launch

During AMD's official Vega AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit, Raja Koduri has confirmed that RX Vega will be showcased at Computex. AMD has also confirmed that RX Vega will not be hitting the shelves during Computex time frame with the gaming oriented RX Vega still not having an official launch date.

Following the rumors of a few weeks ago, AMD is not yet ready launching RX Vega. Many users are afraid that AMD is still fighting with shortage issues related to HBM2 memory. According to Raja, there are no such issues and AMD wants to make sure they release a perfect product, which is able to fight compete with NVIDIA’s flagship models. Furthermore according to the latest rumors, AMD is taking HBM2 supply from different vendors like Samsung and SK Hynix, to ensure they won’t run into any shortage issues down the road.

Speaking about memory size, Raja Koduri stated that the Radeon Technologies Group might be thinking about a 16GB model. So far it looks like the RX Vega GPUs for sure feature 8GB of VRAM. Additionally, thanks to the High Bandwidth Cache Controller, it should be possible to use external memory to create an expanded frame buffer. So far there is still no in-depth information about this available, especially not about how this features is going to perform. .

Last but not least, Raja Koduri has also hinted that there will be aftermarket designs of their RX Vega GPU. So far there are no additional details about AMD RX Vega and we’re hoping that the card will be launched somewhen in Q3 - maybe during next Gamescom?
