GALAX has introduced their new GTX 1070 Katana graphics card which features a single slot coolers. Due to the cooler’s size, the card offers a very sleek design. The GeForce GTX 1070 Katana is the world’s first single slot GTX 1070.
Creating a single-slot GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card poses quite a few challenges to the cooler. Since it has to remove the heat from the GPU, memory and VRM using much less surface area and slimmer fans, optimizations are necessary. GALAX for that matter is using their so called RazorX heatsink, which combines a vapor chamber with a dense copper fin array, which should suffice to remove the heat at reasonable noise levels.
Since this card is very slim it is perfect for a small form factor gaming PC. Checking the specs we see that the GeForce GTX 1070 Katana comes factory-overclocked to 1518MHz/1708MHz Core/Boost clocks, while the GTX 1070 Founders Edition works at 1506MHz/1683MHz Core/Boost frequencies. This is a very tiny factory OC, but nevertheless it’s impressive that GALAX is actually overclocking the card in combination with a cooler this small.
Regarding connectors we find one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0b connector and one dual-link DVI port. As of today there is no date available when this card will hit the shelves of your local retailer.
