Intel X299 might be available sooner than expected

First samples in late June?

According to Benchlife, Intel’s upcoming X299 series chipset as well as the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors might have been rescheduled to launch more than a month before the original launch date. In other words if Intel doesn't find issues with their LGA 2066 motherboard platform, we might see Intel X299 already in June.

If this new data is valid, Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X are set to launch at some point between calendar week 25 and 27 this year. The original date for Skylake-X was set to August, while with this new date we might see them between the end of June and the beginning of July. Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X are expected to be Intel's new high-end desktop processors and they will share the same LGA2066 socket. According to the rumors, the Skylake-X line-up will bring a few different new models with quad-channel DDR4 memory and a solid amount of PCIe lanes to the table.

Like the current lineup the upcoming one will features a 10 core, an 8 core, a 6 core and 4 core model. The first three CPUs will be based on the Skylake architecture while the last one, the quad-core, will use Kaby Lake as a basis. Due to different core counts and architectures there will also be different TDPs. Therefore all the Skylake-X based models will feature a TDP of 140W, while the Kaby Lake-X chips are supposed to have a TDP of 112W.

Meanwhile there is still some mystery around Kaby Lake-X CPUs since they will feature quad-core designs with dual-channel support and up to 16 PCI Express lanes. It looks like that Intel is going to repackage the mainstream Kaby Lake into the new socket. According to Benchlife, Intel might unveil more details about this platform already during Computex 2017 and we will probably learn more about these CPUs.
