During the last GDC, NVIDIA announced the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and also the upcoming release of faster GTX 1060 and 1080 graphics cards. According to them, companies like MSI, Gigabyte or ASUS can create variations of the GeForce GTX 1060 and GTX 1080 with faster memory than the reference design.
A few weeks after there are now news from Gigabyte. The Aorus GTX 1080 11Gbps Edition now has 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory (GV-N1080AORUS-8GD and GV-N1080AORUS X11-8GD) and the Aorus GTX 1060 6GB 9Gbps Edition (GTX1060-O6G-9GBPS) comes now with 9 Gbps GDDR5.
In total Gigabyte upgraded three different cards with faster memory including one GTX 1060 and two GTX 1080 graphics cards. The Aorus GTX 1060 6GB 9Gbps Edition comes with a black heat sink with dense aluminum fin stack and several heatpipes. The metal shroud has been painted black and on the flipside there is a backplate. While the older version works at 1506MHz/1708MHz Core/Boost frequencies, the new GV-N1060AORUS-6GD clocks with 1607MHz/1835MHz Core/Boost.
Aorus also introduced a pair of custom-design GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards with identical design. Both cards feature a dual slot heatsink and a dense aluminum fin stack that has been combined with three fans, which is typical for the WINDFORCE cooler. The entire cooler has been kept in black and there is a solid back plate presenting the Aorus logo. While the GV-N1080AORUS-8GD version works at 1708MHz/1847MHz Core/Boost frequencies, the new GV-N1080AORUS X11-8GD clocks with 1759MHz/1898MHz Core/Boost.
So far Gigabyte has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their new graphics card.
