AMD has had quite a lot of success with its Ryzen 7 processors but the gaming performance, when graphics cards aren’t bottlenecking, was weaker than expected. Earlier this month, AMD explained that this was simply due to the way games are optimised. Ashes of the Singularity is one of the first games that has received a patch to increase the performance in combination with Ryzen processors and the results are impressive.
According to benchmarks PCPer conducted, a Ryzen 7 1800X CPU paired with DDR4-3200 memory can of between 17% and 31% of performance. All the benchmarks have been done with 1080p resolution and a high graphics preset. These performance boosts are the result of the “initial optimisation” and future optimizations might bring even more to the table. According to Oxide Games and Stardock Entertainment, this patch is capable of boosting performance of Ryzen based systems by up to 30 percent.
Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is the first game to officially receive updated Ryzen CPU support. The benchmark results show that the performance gains are impressive. In the case of Intel processors this patch has no influence on performance in any way.
It looks like this is only the beginning, since there are other game developers working on optimizations as well.
