Zotac has shown three new graphics cards, which are based on the new flagship - GP102 - chip from NVIDIA. Right after the announcements from ASUS, EVGA and MSI, Zotac unveiled three more graphics cards, which go by the names Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme, Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP Edition and Zotac GTX 1080 Ti. While the first two models feature a custom design and a custom heatsink, the third might be based on a semi-custom design.
The Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme and the Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP Edition graphics cards share a similar design. These two cards feature a custom cooler that is supposed to deliver good cooling performance. The heat sink comes with a dense aluminum fin stack and several heatpipes. The metal shroud has been painted black and on the flipside there is a good looking backplate. While the AMP Extreme features the IceStorm cooling system which is using a triple-fan cooler, the AMP Edition is "less Extreme" and there are only two fans.
According to the official descriptions both cards share the same custom PCB including a massive 16+2 phase design. Although the folks over at Videocardz didn't mention any details regarding clock speeds, we believe that both models will ship overclocked from the factory. In the past the AMP series graphics cards from Zotac always featured substantial factory overclocks and we don’t believe there is going to be anything different in the case of this generation.
According to the guys over at Videocardz, Zotac has also shown a semi-custom model which goes by the name of GTX 1080 Ti. Since there are no detailed specifications available it’s hard to tell what is actually custom. Apparently the cooler looks different from NVIDIA’s Founders Edition, but maybe there is also an additional phase on the PCB. So far upcoming reviews, more detailed news or details specifications will have to clarify this point.
So far Zotac has not revealed any details on pricing and availability, however both cards should become available during next weeks.
