PNY has shown their new CS1311b series of SSDs based on 3D TLC-NAND Flash memory. With the CS1311b series PNY offers a unit based on a Phison S11 controller, which is an updated version of the Phison S10 controller, whereas the older version could be found in the PNY CS1311 series SSDs. All the new drives features a 2.5 inch package.
These units come with a SATA-III interface so the performance is not going to be a surprise. As expected the CS1311b SSDs are able to max out the SATA-III interface, hitting up to 560MB/s sequential read and 510MB/s for sequential writes. In the case of 4K speeds 80'000/81'000 IOPS are achieved regarding random reads/writes. PNY is not mentioning endurance in TBW (Terabytes Write) or the mean time before failure (MTBF). In addition this unit supports S.M.A.R.T., TRIM and NCQ, which is what you expect it to support.
The CS1311b SSDs will be available with 128GB and 256GB of storage capacity and they’ll be covered by a 3-year warranty plan. So far PNY has not revealed any details on pricing and availability but we’re sure it won’t take very long until those drives are going to be listed on the usual price comparison portals.
