G.Skill has announced the Flare X series and the Fortis series memory kits, which have both been designed and tested in combination with AMD’s new Ryzen processors. When a new CPU architecture hits the market memory vendors usually conduct extensive stability test before launching their kits. The G.Skill Flare X series offers very solid performance, while with the Fortis series are more budget-oriented.
Designed for the latest AMD Ryzen processor, the new Flare X series DDR4 memory kit should provide very good compatibility. According to G.Skill every single IC on the memory module has been tested and validated on the AMD AM4 platform in order to provide highest compatibility and stability for systems based on AMD Ryzen processors.
With the Fortis series, G.Skill offers budget-oriented kits, which have also been optimized to be used with socket AM4 based systems. The Flare X and FORTIS series will both be available with DDR4-2133MHz and DDR4-2400MHz clock speeds. Apart from that various capacities, ranging from 16GB to 64GB are going to be listed.
The Flare X series will support higher frequencies such as DDR4-3200MHz and DDR4-3466MHz. The G.Skill Flare X DDR4-3200 will come with CL14-14-14-34 timings and a capacity of 64GB (4x16GB), while the G.Skill Flare X DDR4-3466 will feature 16-16-16-36 latency with 16GB total capacity and the kit consisting of two sticks. Both kits have been tested in combination with an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU and an ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard.
So far G.Skill has not revealed details on pricing and availability. Nevertheless we expect these kits to hit the market somewhen this month. As we already metioned the Fortis kits should be priced attractively, while the Flare X kits will address the high-end/enthusiast market.
