AMD has finally announced their new Ryzen 7 series processors including three new 8-core chips and they all come with a highly competitive price tag. At the moment So far AMD has only been talking about the 8-core 16-thread Ryzen 7 lineup but we might see soon 6-core and 4-core models soon too.
So far AMD's Ryzen CPU lineup includes 3 eight-core CPUs but we expect to see two additional six-core chips CPUs and 4 more quad-core processors. At the moment the pack is led by the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, followed by the Ryzen 7 1700X and the Ryzen 7 1700. In the case of the Ryzen 7 1800X AMD claims to have the most powerful 8-core CPUs on the market. Compared to the Intel Core i7-6900K, the new AMD Ryzen appears to be 9% in faster in Cinebench according to AMDs own testing while coming at a 54% lower price tag.
The Ryzen 7 1700X clocks a little bit slower than the 1800X, but according to AMD it is still able to compete easily against the Intel Core i7-6900K while outperforming the Intel Core i7-6800K. Last but not least there is the AMD Ryzen 7 1700, which is AMD’s low power 8-core solution. This CPU features a TDP of 65W and a base/turbo clock of 3.0/3.7GHz. According to AMD, Ryzen has surpassed the initial expectations with an IPC increase of 52% compared to Excavator.
Furthermore AMD has announced that there will be 82 different motherboards available during the launch from all the different vendors, like ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI. The three new CPUs and all the new motherboards will be available after March 2nd, however you can already start your pre-order Ryzen products at one of your preferred 180 retailers that have started to stock Ryzen products. AMD's Ryzen 7 CPUs are confirmed to be priced at $499 in the case of the 1800X, $399 for the Ryzen 7 1700X and $329 for the Ryzen 7 1700.
