According to latest reports and even confirmations from AMD itself there won’t be any drivers for Windows 7 regarding their upcoming Ryzen processors. AMD is only going support of Windows 10 as well as Windows 8.1. Apart from that it’s interesting to see that also Intel’s Kaby Lake processors won’t support Windows 7 anymore.
In the end it’s neither Intel’s nor AMD’s fault that Windows 7 is not going to support Kaby Lake or Ryzen. It’s Microsoft itself that only supports the latest generation of processors from Intel and AMD with Windows 10. As an example: if you’re using Kaby Lake in combination with Windows 7 and are trying to use the integrated the video processor which supports the H.265 codec you won’t be able to use all its functionality.
According to a report on ComputerBase.de AMD has mentioned that they’ve tested Ryzen in combination with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 but they are only going to supply drivers for Windows 10. In other words this means that the AMD Ryzen based platforms will certainly work in combination with Windows 7 and Windows 8 but not all features will be supported.
