The Z270 Gaming Plus from MSI is a mid-end motherboard that comes with basically the essential features. Compared to the Gaming Pro, we see a reworked layout and less connectors. The main difference between this model and any Intel Z270 motherboard is the lack of NVIDIA SLI support.
Like the Z270 Gaming Pro, the Z270 Gaming Plus is based on an ATX form factor. In an effort to keep the price low, MSI removed all the RGB features yet there are still red LEDs. This motherboard has been equipped with two full-sized PCIe slots, where the first one features steel reinforcements. Since this board doesn't support NVIDIA SLI, the second PCIe slot has been wired only using four PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes.
Checking the SATA connectors there are six of them while four of them have been angled. Apart from that you get one M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized M.2 SSDs. Although this particular board is placed somewhere between entry-level and mid-range in the case of Z270, we think it could be an interesting choice.
Checking Geizhals we find the MSI Z270 Gaming Plus already listed with prices starting at 150 Euro. Compared to other Z270 based motherboards this is a very attractive price, yet keeping in mind that MSI removed quite a few features this price is still juicy.
