Biostar has unveiled several AMD AM4 300-series motherboards during an event held in Taiwan. Although Biostar only showcased AMD X370 and B350 motherboards, they will release A320 chipset based products as well. Biostar is one of the first to show an almost entire AM4 lineup and we hope to see more details even from other companies.
At the moment there are only a few details available. The full list of specifications as well as detailed pictures can most likely be expected to surface by the end of February, since by then the NDA is allegedly supposed to be lifted.
So far Biostar’s X370-series will include four models: the Biostar X370 GTN, the Biostar X370 GT7, the Biostar X370 GT5 and then Biostar X370 GT3. The X370 GT7 is the flagship model and based on ATX form factor with the usual four DIMM slots. There is a black PCB, which have been combined with black heat sinks with silver elements.
There are three PCIe Gen 3.0 slots and four PCIe x1. Between the first and the second full-sized PCIe slot there are two slots distance providing plenty of space for graphics cards to breathe in the case of multi-GPU setups. On the storage side we see one M.2 slot and six SATA ports. Since this model should be the one overclockers want to use, there are also features like onboard buttons and a debug display.
The X370 GT5 and X370 GT3 are quite similar in terms of design. The first one is based on an ATX form factor while the second one is for mATX cases. Apparently those models do not come with the same amount of features as the flagship models, therefore the PCB doesn't seems that crowded but there is still a M.2 slot, sitting in between the first and the second full-size PCIe slot on the right hand side of the PCB there are four SATA ports. Apart from that both models have been equipped with enough slots to make Crossfire and SLI setups with two cards possible.
The X370 GTN might be the first mini-ITX motherboard that we see based on AM4 chipset. Since there isn't a picture let's start talking about what we can spot by just looking at the specification tab. First of all the CPU power design could be the same which like on the X370 GT5 and GT3. The PCB offers one PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slot, four SATA ports and one M.2 slot. In addition, like for all the previous models, we see a Realtek Dragon LAN chip.
The B350-series includes three models: the Biostar B350 GTN, the Biostar B350 GT5 and the Biostar B350 GT3. AMD’s B350 chipset is going to be the one addressing mainstream market offering an attractive price/performance ratio. It comes with less PCIe lanes compared to X370 but it still allows for overclocking your AM4 CPUs.
