After it’s been announced that the market for desktop PC has started to stabilize there are more good news when looking at the volume of the PC gaming market. It appears that in 2016 sales have accounted for more than 30 Billion US-Dollars.
According to Jon Peddie Research, PC gaming hardware sales exceeded the 30 Billion US-Dollar mark in 2016. It’s the first time that the PC gaming market has surpassed this volume and it’s certainly a positive thing to see the market grow. According to analysts the 30 Billion US-Dollar mark should have been surpassed by 2018 and therefore it’s a rather positive surprise to see such growth.
According to the report there are several reasons as to why consumers are interested in PC gaming. As we know just too well here at ocaholic the graphics on PC games offer a degree of realism that’s unrivaled by other platform. Apart from that there are comfortable input devices, such as specific gaming keyboards and mice. In the past few years the whole ecosystem has been has diversified addressing all the different niches.
Having a closer look at the report it’s interesting to see how the different market segments perform. It turns out that high-end PC gaming parts for more than $13 Billion US-Dollars were sold. This makes for a 43% share and therefore high-end is the largest portion. In the case of mid-range components worth 10 billion US-Dollars have been sold (35%) and the entry-level segment accounts for 6.7 Billion US-Dollars (22%) in revenue.
After years of struggle it’s great to see that the PC market in general is recovering. As the latest reports from Jon Peddie Research shows PC gaming is one very important part of this entire development.
