AMD AM4 platform shown

Feature list finally up to date

During their New Horizon event AMD has also shown the new AM4 platform. The upcoming high-end motherboards will be based on the X370 chipset which offers all the latest feature you might want from a recent motherboard.

At the moment there are no dedicated product pictures available, so we’re limited to telling you what we can spot on preview images. At a first glance it looks like this board is based on an ATX form-factor and there are instance four DIMM slots. Since the DIMM slots are only on one side of the motherboard this suggests that there is a dual channel memory interface in place. The PCB doesn't seems too crowded but nevertheless there is a M.2 slot and four SATA ports.

Apart from that there are two PCIe Gen 3.0 slots as well as two full-sized PCIe Gen 2.0 slots. Judging by it’s design it looks like this board has been made by MSI. We’re saying so, since the heatsink cooling the chipset looks quite similar to the one on the Tomahawk Z270, which we’ve shown you last week. There is also MSI’s PCIe Steel Armor and maybe an they’ll even include one of their new M.2 heatsinks.

Although it looks like AMD is doing well these day keeping things under the wraps, we’re apparently hoping for more leaks to make the upcoming weeks until the launch that bit more interesting.
