Polaris 10 XT2 and Polaris 12 spotted in new drivers

Spotted inside macOS Sierra drivers

Anandtech forums user “Glo” stumbled upon some new AMD graphics cards, which have been mentioned in the latest drivers for macOS. It appears that AMD is soon going to introduce Polaris 10 XT2 and Polaris 12.

“Glo” also had a look at the files with a hex editor. Earlier on we reported on a leak from that surface in the Ashes of the Singularity database and it could be that the “687F:C1” “Glo” found refers to the same card, the AotS tests were run with.

It’s also interesting to see that the same dump includes a note on the Vega10 GPU, which is expected to hit the market during Q1 2017. The fact that three different GPUs are mentioned in the latest drivers for macOS could mean that AMD might even be planning on launching a new 500 Series line-up.

Lately there a lot appears to be going on around AMD. Especially in combination with the upcoming Zen processors AMD is making it into the news rather often. Apparently it would be great to see Zen perform well and if AMD was able to introduce a set of new graphics cards soon after that would certainly help the company massively.
