Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti launching on October 18

GTX 1050 comes later, October 26th

According to the latest report, Nvidia should launch its new Geforce GTX 1050 Ti on October 18th while the slower Geforce GTX 1050 should come on October 26th. There is also a fresh rumor that Nvidia might also have a third GP107-based graphics card in the works, the GTX 1050 SE or GTX 1040.

As detailed earlier, the Geforce GTX 1050 Ti should be based on a fully-enabled GP107 GPU, packing 768 CUDA cores, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The GPU should work at 1318MHz base and 1380MHz GPU Boost clocks and it should come with 4GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 7.0GHz and paired up with a 128-bit memory interface, ending up to 112GB/s of memory bandwidth.

While nothing is still carved in stone, the expected price of the GTX 1050 Ti at launch on October 18th is US $149 but we also expect plenty of custom versions from various Nvidia AIB partners.

On the other hand, the slower Geforce GTX 1050, should be coming a week later, on October 26th. It will be based on a cut-down version of the GP107 GPU, most likely ending up with 640 CUDA cores, 40 TMUs and 32 ROPs. It will also have lower clocks and come with 2GB of GDDR5 memory on the same 128-bit memory interface.

As noted, the GTX 1050 is expected to launch on October 26th with a price set at US $119.

Earlier rumors also suggested that the GP107 could be the first GPU made on Samsung's 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, which should both explain the smaller size of the chip as well as the much better power efficiency since the GTX 1050 Ti should end up with a 75W TDP.

The same source also suggest that Nvidia has a third SKU based on the same GP107 GPU, which could end up with a GTX 1050 SE or GTX 1040 name. This will probably be based on a further cut-down GP107 GPU, packing 512 CUDA cores and 2GB of GDDR5 memory but also fit a US $99 price.

In any case, Nvidia will finally put some pressure in the entry-level market and its Pascal GP107 GPU looks like it is on a good path to offer some decent performance for casual, entry-level and MOBA gaming.
