Nvidia Volta-based Geforce could come in 2018

With all new GDDR6 memory

According to the latest rumor, Nvidia Volta GPU based Geforce graphics cards could be coming in 2018 and feature up to 48GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at over 14Gbps.

As detailed earlier, Nvidia is expected to launch its Pascal 2.0 GPU refresh next year, which will be based on Samsung's 14nm FinFET manufacturing process while the next-generation Volta GPU architecture could be first unveiled at GTC 2017 show in May while the first Geforce graphics cards based on Volta GPU could be coming in 2018.

According to provided details, the new Volta GPU graphics card could use the upcoming GDDR6 memory from Micron, which could offer over 14Gbps of bandwidth, significantly higher than 10Gbps GDDR5X memory.

Nvidia could even launch high-end Geforce graphics cards with 16GB of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit memory interface while ultra high-end Geforce or Titan graphics cards, based on GV102 GPU, could feature 24GB or even 48GB of GDDR6 memory on a much wider 384-bit memory interface, offering impressive memory bandwidth.

Hopefully, we will hear more details regarding Nvidia's Volta GPU architecture as we draw closer to the GTC 2017 show in May.
