Thecus launches two 10GbE network cards

The C10GI540T2 and C10GI599F2 NICs

Thecus has announced two new dual-port 10GbE network interface cards (NICs) based on two different Intel controller chips and targeting different network needs, the Thecus C10GI540T2 and C10GI599F2.

With the growing adoption of 10GbE network solutions, it does not come as a surprise that Thecus has decided to release two new 10GbE NICs. Developer and manufactured by the Ennoconn group, the new Thecus C10GI540T2 and the C10GI599F2, should offer excellent price/performance ratio, bringing 10GbE link to businesses that require high-speed backup and data transfer.

The Thecus C10GI540T2 is based on Intel's X540 controller chip and offers better compatibility with its dual copper 10GBase-T Ethernet RJ-45 connectors. The C10GI599F2, on the other hand, is based on Intel's 82599ES controller chip and comes with optical and copper links via two 10GBase-SFP+ connectors.

Both the C10GI540T2 and the C10GI599F2 are based on low-profile, half-length form-factor, which should provide further compatibility and an upper hand compared to other NICs on the market, which are usually based on full-length form-factor. Both should also used the same PCIe x8 Gen 2 interface and support wide range of operating systems.

Unfortunately, Thecus did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date but did say that these are shipping now.
