There were quite a few rumors that AMD is working on a dual-GPU Radeon RX 490 and it appears that it has been spotted in several places, suggesting it could launch sooner than earlier believed.
As we all know, AMD's high-end Vega GPU won't be coming before next year and since it currently has no new graphics card in the high-end market, AMD's only choice is to make a dual-GPU graphics card which will probably end up with two Polaris 10 GPUs.
Spotted in AMD's own slide as a tier 9 product that will be aimed at 4K and VR gaming as well as in a couple of other places, including Sapphire's page, the Radeon RX 490 is expected to pack two Polaris 10 GPUs, 16GB of GDDR5 memory (8GB per GPU) paired up with a 256-bit memory interface.
With such configuration, AMD could put some pressure on Nvidia's GTX 1080 graphics card as the RX 480 works quite well in Crossfire.
AMD Radeon RX 490 could launch with a price ranging from US $499 to US $599, which sounds great compared to the Geforce GTX 1080 so hopefully we will hear more about it soon.
