Intel Skylake-E to use new LGA 3647 socket

As well as 6-channel DDR4 memory

According to the latest leak, it appears that Intel's future generation of Skylake-based Xeon and Skylake-E HEDT CPUs will use a larger LGA 3647 socket as well as feature 6-channel DDR4 memory support.

Revealed thanks to a leak of a Gigabyte motherboard spotted by Tweaktown.com at Computex 2016 show, it appears that Intel will be switching to a much larger socket with 3647 pins for its future HEDT platform based on Skylake architecture.

This makes the socket quite larger but it also brings support for 6-channel DDR4 memory and should feature a larger number of PCI-Express lanes.

This means that the LGA-3647 socket actually packs 1636 more pins compared to Intel's current LGA 2011-3 socket used for recently launched Broadwell-E CPUs and this also means that Skylake-E CPUs will be significantly larger as well.
