Finally we can check out the picture of the GTX 1080 reference PCB, which shows a lot of new details that go behind the reference cooler.
As we draw closer to the May 17th when we expect to see some of the first official reviews of the Nvidia GTX 1080, it does not come as a surprise that we have a couple of leaks, including a picture that shows the reference GTX 1080 PCB in full glory.
Based on Nvidia's PG413 board, the GTX 1080 comes with a 5+1-phase VRM and the PCB is actually quite similar to the GTX 980, with eight memory modules on each side. We can also see the single 8-pin PCI-Express power connector as well as the fact that Nvidia left a room for additional PCI-Express connector so we might see some high factory-overclock versions from AiB partners.
It is quite interesting to see that Nvidia has decided to use a PCB that is similar to the GTX 980 rather than the GTX 980 Ti, but this also leaves a lot of room for partners to make custom graphics cards.
We are also quite sure that some Nvidia AiB partners will make a custom PCB but those versions could come at a later date.
