Razer has announced the new Blackwidow X keyboard series which will offer the design of the earlier available Blackwidow series but without some high-end features and at a much lower price point.
Razer has equipped the new Blackwidow X series with its own mechanical switches but should offer them with a choice of Cherry MX Blue switches as well. The cheapest keyboard in the range is the Razer BlackWidow X Tournament Edition which is priced at $59.99 and comes with Cherry MX Blue switches and US $69.99 with Razer's own mechanical switches.
In addition to the Tournament Edition, Razer also introduced the Razer Blackwidow X Chroma which has both the exposed metal top plate construction as well as Chroma dynamic lighting effects and it is priced at US $159.99.
The US $99.99 priced Razer Blackwidow X Ultimate, also has all the high-end features but comes with standard lighting effects.
Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO said that "the Razer BlackWidow X builds on our massive success with gaming keyboards and broadens the choice of keyboard design for gamers. By removing the protective top cover and exposing the inner metal top chassis of the current BlackWidow, I'm pleased that we're able to establish a new low price point for a premium, metal-chassis, mechanical keyboard with the new BlackWidow X."
The entire Razer Blackwidow X Series should be available for pre-order over at Razer's website.
