Since the closed alpha for id Software's Doom has been available recently it does not come as a surprise that we now have some of the first benchmark results and it appears that Doom likes AMD Radeon better than Nvidia Geforce, at least in its alpha stage.
According to
benchmark results posted by GameGPU site at various resolution and maximum graphics quality settings, AMD does a lot better than Nvidia. As a matter of fact, even the old Radeon R9 280X manages to outperform the Geforce GTX 980 Ti.
Of course, this is probably due to driver support and AMD simply has a better optimized driver for the alpha stage of Doom.
Bear in mind that the game still does not have SLI or Crossfire multi-GPU support so we are still far away from the final result and we expect both Nvidia and AMD to release new drivers which will be optimized for Doom.
In case you missed it, Doom is scheduled to be released on May 13th on Playstation 4, Xbox One and, of course, PC.
