Nvidia announces its Q4 FY 2016 results

Reports a record quarter and a record year

Nvidia has announced its financial results for both the fourth quarter as well as 2016 fiscal year, reporting a record quarter and a record year with revenue of $1.401 billion.

The revenue of US $1.401 billion is an impressive result and up by 7 percent compared to the last quarter and 12 percent compared to the same quarter last year. This all adds up to US $5,010 billion in the FY 2016 which is up by 7 percent compared to the last fiscal year.

Gross margin in Q4 FY 2016 was also up by 0.2 percent and 0.6 percent, to 56.5 percent, compared to the last and the same quarter last year. Operating income was at US $252 million with net income of $207 million and earning per share of $0.35.

Nvidia has to thank its GPU business for the record quarter as it managed to secure US $1.178 billion a good 10 percent compared to the last year while Tegra business was up by 22 percent compared to the last quarter and up by 40 percent compared to the same period last year, scoring US $157 million in revenue.

Gaming markets brought most of the cash with US $810 million in this quarter.

Nvidia predicts that its Q1 FY 2017 will bring US $1.26 billion in revenue which should be down compared to this quarter but it is something that was expected for this time of the year.
