While Oculus Rift is already up for pre-order, it appears that HTC's Vive headset is not that far behind as the pre-order for it should open on February 29th.
In an interview with The Telegraph, HTC's CEO Cher Wang confirmed that the pre-orders for the HTC Vive will be starting on February 29th while the headset is expected to begin shipping in April. Unfortunately, HTC still did not reveal any details regarding the price but it is expected to cost more than the Oculus Rift, priced at US $599.
The price difference does not come as a surprise since HTC aims to offer a different type of VR experience, where users can stand, walk around and interact with the virtual experience while Oculus Rift is more aimed at sitting down and enjoying the virtual reality experience.
Hopefully we will hear more information regarding the HTC Vive soon as the competition in the VR market heats up.
