Samsung have Snapdragon 820 exclusivity until April

Other smartphone makers have to wait

While it was believed that Xiaomi Mi5 would be the first smartphone with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC on the market, this might not be the case according to a new report as Samsung will have exclusivity on Snapdragon 820 SoC until April.

While Xiaomi CEO already said that the company will focus on providing a great user experience with the Mi5 rather than rush the device to the market and be the first with Snapdragon 820 SoC, according to the latest report coming from Gforgames.com site, Xiaomi might not have a choice since Samsung has the exclusivity on Qualcomm's newest Snapdragon 820 SoC until April.

Samsung is definitely the biggest Qualcomm customer so it does not come as a surprise that Qualcomm has decided to give Samsung exclusivity on its latest Snapdragon 820 SoC, especially since the Snapdragon 820 is manufactured at Samsung on 14nm FinFET manufacturing process. Earlier rumors suggest that Samsung will have two versions of its upcoming Galaxy S7 smartphone, one running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC and the other based on its own Exynos SoC.

While Samsung has been pretty quiet regarding the release date of the new Galaxy S7 smartphone, earlier rumors suggest that it might be announced as early as February, at MWC 2016 show and released in March 2016.

If these reports are true, Samsung might get a decent headstart with Snapdragon 820 SoC and the Galaxy S7 flagship might be the first to have it.
