After the initial non-K Skylake overclocking results and BIOS updates from some manufacturers, Elmor, a well known overclocker has managed to score a rather impressive overclock on a Core i3-6300 Skylake CPU and has published a set of BIOS updates for a total of seven ASUS motherboards which will allow non-K Skylake CPU overclocking.
Posted at HWBOT.org forum, Elmor has uploaded BIOS updates for a total of seven ASUS motherboards including the Maximus VIII Hero, Maximus VIII Gene, Maximus VIII Extreme, Maximus VIII Impact, Z170-DELUXE, Z170-A and the Z170-E motherboards.
There are a couple of issues with these BIOS updates including, no iGPU, no dynamic change of CPU frequency, no C-states, no Turbo Mode, wrong CPU temperature reading, low performance for AVX instructions and no support for Windows XP ACPI. We are sure that these won't bother those looking to pull maximum out of their non-K series Skylake CPUs.
On a similar note, Elmor actually managed to overclock the Core i3-6300 Skylake CPU to 6GHz with LN2 on ASUS Maximus VIII Gene motherboard, which is a great result.
