ASRock has unveiled its first "budget" sub-$100 socket LGA1151 motherboard based on Intel's Z170 Express chipset, the ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1 motherboard.
Featuring support for Intel's latest 6th generation Core Skylake CPUs and with support for up to 64GB of DDR4-3400 memory, the new ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1 motherboard has a simpler 5-phase CPU VRM powered by a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors.
In order to keep the price down, ASRock had to limit some features and ports but still comes with single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 port, a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 working at x4, three PCI-Express 3.0 x1 ports. Storage connectivity took the biggest hit as it only includes six SATA 6Gbps ports. Although aimed at budget market, the Z170A-X1/3.1 still features two USB 3.1 ports, type-A and type-C.
The rest of the features include eight USB 3.0 ports, Intel Gigabit Ethernet and standard 5.1-channel HD audio with ground layer isolation.
According to details, ASRock plans to have the Z170A-X1/3.1 motherboard on the market soon with a price below US $100.
